British National Championships 2013 – Results

A total of 4 Saxons made the trip to Sheffield on Saturday 7th December to compete in the Beazley British National Championships 2013.

Saxon Christmas Dinner – Update

The club Christmas dinner is upon us!

 

Unfortunately the rugby dinner is off but there is a new plan, see below.

Where:

North China Restaurant, 305 Uxbridge Road, Acton, London W3 9QU

When

7.30pm Saturday 21st December

 
So, the revised plan is that from 7.30pm on 21st Dec. we convene at the North China restaurant on Acton high street, along the road from the Red Lion.  We have booked their function room upstairs which seats about 30.  There is no minimum charge and we can just order off menu (they do very nice Chinese food, the chilli beef is recommended).

Leon Paul Cup Satellite 2013 – Results

Mens Foil

Christopher Mollard – 173rd

David Standen – 175th

Christopher and David were the only Saxons to fence in this years Leon Paul Cup Satellite International and representing Great Britain.

David was in wave 1 which started at 9.10am, in poule 2 and lost all 6 of his fights.  Christopher was in a similar position, being in a smaller poule and also losing his 5 matches.  With 180 fencers present, this was the toughest satellite event that mens foil has seen in the last few years and praise should be given to both of them for running some of their matches so close.

Intermediate Class Starting

When: 8.30pm, starts Thursday 21st November

Duration: 30 – 40 mins, for 2 weeks

Open to: everyone

After the success of the intermediate class in the last two weeks, they will continue running until Christmas.  Classes resume this week

5 Nations International Tournament – Results

Christopher Mollard travelled to Edinburgh for the annual 5 Nations International, this time held on home soil.

Overall the event was won by England with 20 victories, closely followed by Scotland in 2nd with 18.

The Scottish Mens Foil team came through undefeated with the following results:

Scotland 45 – 41 Northern Ireland

Scotland 45 – 40 Wales

Scotland 45 – 31 England

Scotland 45 – 31 Ireland

Christopher was selected to compete in the Mens Foil, along with his team mates Keith Cook, Jack Watson and Calum De St. Croix
