We are trying to find an alternative space in the school, and we’ll let you know if we’re back on again, but unless you hear otherwise, please assume that next Thursday there’s no fencing.

3 Saxons selected for veteran 4 Nations

3 Saxon fencers have been selected for the Veteran 4 Nations International in April, this year being held in Edinburgh.  The fencers are:

– Nick Mort (Scotland)

– Paul Lowen (England)

– Michael Thomas (England)

With the Commonwealth and Veteran Commonwealth fencing championships coming up at the end of this year, these selections could prove to be important factors.

London Youth Championships – Results

A number of Saxon fencers competed at the London Youth Championships on the weekend of the 8th/9th March.  The results were as follows:

Fernanda Da Silva – 3rd

Under 16 boys

William Price – 2nd

David Cuss – 8th

David Hope – 10th

Dougie, Fernanda and William have all qualified for the national finals later in the year.

Paul Lowen qualifies for Vet world championships

A big congratulations to Paul Lowen, who has qualified for the Veteran Fencing World Championships by finishing 5th and the highest in his age group at the British Fencing Veteran National Championships this weekend.

A bit of background on the age groups

The age groups are:

– Category 1: 40+

– Category 2: 50+

– Category 3: 60+

– Category 4:70+

– Category 5:80+

At the nationals, all age groups are mixed and the top fencer in each age group is awarded a place on the team for the Veteran Fencing World Championships.  The rest of the team for each age group team is determined at the qualifiers held later in the year.
